Just a quick update with some download links for music i’m listening to… A few days ago I’ve seen a rather good sci-fi movie, it’s called moon. Here you go. Moon (go to imdb) - Get Torrent
In the past I’ve often heard some criticism when talking about Tortoise (one of my all-time fave bands) saying that they keep repeating themselves. Well such criticism will have to go back to the sewer it belongs to, especially after this new album.
Beacon of the Ancestorship doesn’t give a fuck about anything. It’s not easy, it doesn’t belong to any genre (is it jazz? is it rock? is it prog? WTF! who cares), it’s got fat synths, cool drums, weird tempos, it sounds great, and it’s a great evolution from previous albums.
Do yourself a favour, get it, and if you are lucky enough to have Tortoise touring near you, go see them.
I’ve not been very active on my blog lately… life has been busy. The news is I have taken the decision to go back to Milano (Italy), my hometown, in October. Very exciting, innit?
Also, Radiohead have just released a new song, Harry Patch. Here you go:
I think we need to pay a little tribute and a little respect to one of the best ever. Humble, sad, paradoxical, pure, gender-bender, always young, troubled, talented Michael Jackson.
Here’s a videoclip from the beautiful song Billie Jean.
“Billie Jean Is Not My Lover
She’s Just A Girl Who Claims That I Am The One
But The Kid Is Not My Son
She Says I Am The One, But The Kid Is Not My Son”
I’ve put together a small collection of songs and they are available for download here.
I suggest you do like me and some friends did a couple of day ago. Burn a cd with the songs you like the most (like, the most adrenalinic i’d say) then go out at night with a small boombox and walk around dancing. Then watch people go craaaaazy.
A few days ago I went to he biggest venue in my town to attend a performance by DJ John Digweed. It was brilliant, the best DJ act I’ve ever seen… really on the level, lots of fun!
Now, one of Digweed’s best mates is Sasha, who as recently (09/2008) released this Invol2ver album, which is a remix album. In Invol2ver you’ll find damn fine remixes of Thom Yorke, Ladytron, Telefon Tel Aviv, Apparat and more. And boy I don’t think any of the above mentioned artists would have a remix done by a crap DJ, right? Right! The remixes always hit the right spot, they’ll make you dance and you’ll enjoy the dark atmospheres they can evoke.
What if I tell you that in Ireland there is a band that managed to mix sunny reggae music, drum n bass/dub beats and celtic arps? Would you believe it? Well, you better believe it my friend, because that’s what Intinn do!
They just released a good album, too. And if you so wish, you can grab it here.
And here’s a video… Sweet Reggae Music by Intinn~~~ enjoy~~~~ Jah love (right?)
Dr. Emoto shows you how to bless the water you drink in this YouTube video.
I say, you don’t have to do exactly the way he does it, but something along the lines. I do it with my water, I just keep my water in a blue glass bottle with “blessings”and symbols written by me all over the glass.
And let me tell ya, tap water lasts longer in that bottle than in another random bottle.
Ok so I’m probably a bit late in talking about Burial and his Untrue album, as it was released back in 2007. But hey later is better than never, just like sooner is better than later (right, Nelly?).
So what should you expect with Burial?. Well, this is electronic music. Dark. Urban. Like an abandoned house, haunted perhaps. Like a street you don’t know, at 3.00 AM. Like some kind of dream-nightmare. Like dark clouds in your head.
I don’t know what genre this music fits in. It’s electronic, yeah. Some say it’s dubstep/garage/house… I say yeah, whatever. This sounds closer to the solo Thom Yorke’s album than to any dubstep artist out there.
What I know is that it feels good, in a weird way. It makes you feel good the same way sadness sometimes does. Know what I mean?
Here’s something taken from Youtube.
And here’s a link where you can download the album from… now I hope Burial is going to release some new work soon…
Italy is being very active these days, at least from a musical point of view. And another great band from Italy, Sick Tamburo, has recently released a mighty good album.
They are born from the ashes of Prozac+, a punkrock band active in the late 90s, early 00s. Sick Tamburo’s music is an interesting mix of groovy riffs, great lyrics (in italian though, so english speakers won’t appreciate them), delayed sounds and electronic particles bouncing around. Definitely something fresh that hopefully will appeal not only to italian punkammerda (we know who we are) but also to people from outside Italy as well.
